In Thailand, you have the right to sue for the criminal case by your lawyer. You do not need to make a complaint at the police station. However, if you do not make a complaint at a police station and you want to sue for a compoundable offence such as misappropriation, fraud etc., you have to sue within 3 months.
About criminal cases, you have 2 options. First, you hire the lawyer to sue at a court. Second, you make a complaint at the police station. Then you give testimony and evidence to the police. The police will call the criminal in order to ask for testimony. After the police finish the investigation, the prosecutor will sue the defendant at a court. The second choice, you do not need to hire a lawyer but spend more time because you have to wait for the police to finish the investigation.
In conclusion, if you do not want to wait for a long process from the police and you have the evidence. You can sue at a court by lawyer. The lawyer can sue within 7 to 30 days then the case will be in the process of a court as soon as the lawyer entries a charge at a court.
